Major David Hughes OH 1953-1960

The OH Club has been informed of the death of Major David Hughes (OH 53-60) peacefully at home aged 73.Colin Jenkins wrote - I'm sorry to hear of the passing of another classmate and a member of the 1955 Junior Colts XV of 1955 and the 1959 1st XV in which I also played. David Hughes was one of the most reliable centre three quarters anyone could have in any team. He could always be relied upon in defence or attack to acquit himself to the highest standard with an acute rugby brain that the sport demands. My abiding memory of David was in a junior colts match played at The Link School in Malvern in November 1955. While I was chasing a loose ball across the field, he came running down the centre, I kicked the ball and he caught my right ankle with his boot.
