OHi London Annual Autumn Lunch
We had been expecting at least 25 to attend this particular reunion, each having said they would take part in our now customary (re-established post Covid) riverside gathering from Noon onwards on 20th October 2022. Sadly several couldn’t make it so, in the end we were just 18 in total.4 guests in attendanceWe were joined again by HCS Development Office staff – Claire Morgan-Jones & Helen Pearson who had travelled down by train from Hereford via Newport earlier that morning. Patricia Brittain (nee Hopewell) also joined us and one OH brought his granddaughter along who is currently studying History of Art at UCL. Wet conditions prevented us from fully utilising the open-air terrace that overlooks the Thames, although some of us did sit outside for a while eating our lunch until a heavy downpour arrived. In total there were just 14 OHs present spanning several decades and they came from locations such as Shropshire, Somerset, Wiltshire, East Anglia, Sussex and Devon as well as those of us resident in the Home Counties and London itself. Please refer to this Guest List for names.Anniversary Dinner in 2023 cancelled!At this gathering Peter FB had been hoping to promote a special evening function he wanted to stage next April 2023 to celebrate exactly 20 years since he and fellow cathedral chorister Ian Harwood jointly established our separate alumni sub-group which we called Old Herefordians in London (OHiL).However, it was sadly agreed to abandion this idea as we felt there would be very little enthusiasm and support. N.B. The 3rd and now last Dinner organised by OHiL took place in April 2019 with just 12 guests present.But, all is not lost, because Ian H announced that we would instead be ‘pushing the boat out‘ in May 2023 when we plan to hold our usual Spring Buffet Luncheon at Doggett’s Coat & Badge, SE1.
