After his demob, he decided to become a policeman and joined the then newly formed Liverpool Police Cadets, later going to East Africa to be part of the Kenya police. He returned to the UK, leaving his uniformed life behind to train as a manager in civilian life, working back in Liverpool, Norwich then up to Middlesbrough.Although suffering a stroke in 2000 he carried on enjoying life for the next seven years.Extracted from a letter sent to the Club by his widow Mrs Hazel Palmer.
