OHiL Spring Lunch
On Thursday 12th May 2022 we returned to Doggett’s Coat & Badge to stage our 18th Spring Buffet Luncheon after a gap of two years! This Nicholsons pub is located on the south bank of the river and the room we hired has panoramic views across to St. Paul’s Cathedral and the City environs beyond.. Food included fresh strawberries & cream as a dessert, except that the produce was unfortunatley NOT locally grown in Herefordshire this time !!First visit by ‘Sir‘ as special guest! We were delighted to welcome the Headmaster Dr Michael Gray for this his FIRST ever attendance at Doggett’s. It enabled him to meet even more of we OHs since taking up his post in charge of HCS in September 2021. After a brief ‘Welcome to everyone and thank you for coming‘ introduction by Peter Fairman-Bourn (Co-Host of the event jointly staged with Ian Harwood) we offered Michael an opportunity to ‘take to the floor‘ so he could make various announcements about several interesting initiatives he has begun to introduce. There were a total of TWENTY TWO people present on this occasion, made up of 18 OHs plus the HM and 3 ladies as guests. (Click here to view list) Quite apart from the impact of Covid on all our lives over the past two years, our numbers sadly seem to be dwindling lately? It is hoped therefore that we may derive a much greater turn-out for our Annual Autumn lunchtime reunion already scheduled for…………..THURSDAY 20th OCTOBER 2022 at the same venue. It is believed this latest reunion was heartedly enjoyed by all attendees, many of whom stayed on until late afternoon. Because of fine weather conditions, members were able to make full use of the external balcony to watch the various vessels sail by as they took in views across to The City skyline beyond whilst ….’attempting to set the world to rights!’ as they continued drinking. We guess the events that took place at ‘No.10’ also entered the conversation at some stage?!!
